What Mint Dental Hygiene offers you
Mint Dental Hygiene is a unique independent Dental Hygiene Clinic, offering excellent oral health care to all. Our direct access clinic means you can now book an appointment with our dental hygienist without the need to visit a dentist first.
Mint Dental Hygiene isn’t a conventional dental surgery as you know it. It has been opened with the intention of providing high quality hygiene treatment in a spa like atmosphere of relaxation and calm.
Our Purpose at Mint Dental Hygiene is to work with you to keep your teeth and gums healthy and beautiful.
We believe that one of the most important aspects of dental care is a visit to the hygienist. To enable the highest standards of dental care, the prevention and maintenance of gums is critical.
Dental hygiene visits should be as routine for people as exercise or eating healthy food. To keep our mouth and body healthy we should focus on dental hygiene being prevention rather than treatment.

The benefits of regular dental hygiene appointments
Over half of all adults in the UK have some form of gum disease. Even if you brush your teeth twice a day, you could be at risk of periodontitis or ‘gum disease’. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss, as well as contributing to other underlying health problems.
Gum disease and you - healthy mouth, healthy body
You can’t feel them or taste them, but your mouth is home to entire colonies of microorganisms. Over 700 strains of bacteria have been detected in the mouth.
Gum disease or Gingivitis/ Periodontitis, and Peri-implantitis are chronic, inflammatory gum diseases that affect a significant number of adults in the UK and worldwide. Unfortunately, gum diseases are still poorly acknowledged, even though scientific evidence shows that they pose a threat, not only to our oral/dental health but also our general health. It is known that gum disease and poor oral hygiene can contribute to health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke dementia, respiratory infections and others. Recently it has also been associated with severe cases of COVID-19.
Hygienists are specially trained to provide dental health education, remove plaque and tartar by scaling and polishing teeth, treating and helping to prevent gum disease. Even if your teeth and gums are healthy, a regular visit to the hygienist is a great way of ensuring that they remain disease, problem and stain free.
