Meet the Team

Diane Washington and Deborah Proctor are the founders of Mint Dental Hygiene. With a vast experience of the dental industry between them and being sisters, Diane and Deborah have always had a dream of opening their own clinic in a way where customer care is at the forefront.

Since opening the business in 2021 the team has now expanded to included  Faye Lawrenson (Head Dental Nurse/Care Coordinator), Joanne Lilley (Dental Nurse), Jennifer Stead (General Dental Practitioner) and Jo Dickinson (Dental Hygienist).

Diane Washington

Diane qualified as a dental hygienist in 1999 from Manchester Dental Hospital. Since then, she has spent her time working in private practices around the North West.. She has a wealth of experience treating people with mild gum disease, advanced periodontal disease and implant maintenance.

She has worked along side some of the leading dental surgeons in the area, providing their patients with routine dental hygiene treatments, through to non-surgical therapy and implant maintenance. Some may know Diane as having worked at Lowerbank Dental Practice in Leyland and being Roger Hughlock’s personal hygienist.

Diane is ultra passionate about all things dental and she loves her job. This is very apparent by the standard of her care and the treatment she provides.

Diane has an excellent reputation for providing a caring, gentle approach to dental hygiene, treating you as if you are a member of her own family. She prides herself on developing a customised treatment plan tailored around your individual needs. Always being non judgemental, gentle and thorough, you will feel at ease and actually enjoy your visit.

If you are nervous, anxious or maybe have had a bad experience in the past, Diane will ensure you feel safe and supported throughout your visit. Building trust and rapport is a passion of Diane’s and is why she enjoys her job so much.

Diane regularly attends continual professional development courses to ensure she is providing the highest standard of care. She is also trained in advanced life support and first aid.

Outside of work Diane likes gardening, keeping fit by walking hers dogs, running, dancing and spending time with her family,

Debbie started her career in dentistry at age 16 going straight from school and qualifying as a registered dental nurse in 2002. Debbie worked at Lowerbank Dental Practice in Leyland for 15 years, working for one of the regions leading dentists Roger Hughlock who specialised in implants and cosmetic dentistry.

With a dedicated customer led approach, Debbie’s role within the busy practice was as dental nurse, personal assistant and appointment/surgery manager.

She became the patients first point of call with regards to problems and communication needs, leaving the dentist free to provide the necessary treatment.

Debbie is qualified in dental nursing, radiography, advanced life support and first aid and has continued her professional development with focus on patient and practice management.

When Debbie is not a work she likes to spend time with her family and friends. The majority of her time is spent at the stables with her two children and their ponies, she also loves walks in the countryside with her beautiful Vizsla, Reva.

Faye Lawrenson

Faye began her dental career in 2012 when she finished her high school education. Faye started working at Lowerbank Dental Practice working alongside Roger Hughlock, Debbie Proctor and Diane Washington. Faye gained her Dental Nursing Qualification in 2013

Faye has 10+ years experience in dental nursing, regularly assisting in dental implant surgery and all types of cosmetic and general dentistry.

Faye has a wealth of dental knowledge and has taken on the role of Treatment Care Coordinator here at Mint. Faye is able to see clients for a relaxed, informal discussion appointment before seeing the dentist, outlining and discussing all possible treatment options available, along with costings.

Faye is qualified in Dental Nursing, Dental Radiography, Impressions taking, Advanced Life support and first aid. Faye can also take clinical photographs (intra and extra oral) and a full mouth dental scans.

Outside of work Faye has a busy life looking after her two young children and spending time with her family. Faye enjoys working out and playing netball in her free time.


Jennifer qualified as a dental surgeon from Manchester university in 2007, over the past 15 years she has dedicated her career to both NHS and Private general practice. She prides herself on providing a relaxed, friendly approach to dentistry

Jenny enjoys all aspects of her job and she strives to achieve excellent quality dental care, all while making the patient experience as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Jennifer likes to have a minimally invasive approach to dentistry and offers a wide range of dental treatments. From complete smile makeovers using techniques such as Invisalign, whitening, composite bonding, veneers, crowns, and bridges to root fillings, extractions and simple restorations, all aspects of general dentistry are covered.

Jenny has a keen interest in, and also offers Facial Aesthetics treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections and facial fillers.

When not in work Jenny likes running and spend time with her family watching her two children play in their sports teams.

Jennifer Stead

Jo qualified as a dental hygienist from Leeds Dental Hospital in 1988. She has worked at a variety of practices including NHS, private and specialist referral practices. She has worked alongside some of the most eminent Periodontists and Implantologists and bases her care on the most up to date protocols.

Jo enjoys all aspects of her job but particularly helping patients improve their oral health and smile with confidence. She believes that the treatment she provides should be patient- led and works closely with her patients to plan the pace of the treatment and discuss what treatment options are available.

Jo has spent a great deal of time treating anxious patients and understands how important it is to build up trust with her patients by listening to them and moving at their pace.

She is particularly passionate about helping patients who have periodontal (gum) disease and want to control/ address it. Her experience working with periodontal specialists has allowed her to hone her skills in the non-surgical treatment of early to advanced cases of periodontal disease.

Jo lectures throughout the UK to fellow dental professionals and has been a Key opinion leader for several dental companies; her role is synergistic to both the dental trade and the dental profession, helping in strategic planning and product development.

She was awarded Most Outstanding Team Member at the national Dentistry awards in 2014 and Dental Hygienist of the Year at the national Dental Awards in 2015
